MANILA FOOD GUIDE: MODERN SHANGHAI IN MOA

Oh Hello Blog-O-World!

Last April 15 - 19 was Mall of Asia's Big Summer SALE and I did not pass on this opportunity to buy some stuffs that I've always wanted. My friend and I were busy going to every store to check out the best deals and we were very exhausted walking around with a lot of people that had the same goal, find cheap and great finds.

As we were walking around the 2nd floor, we notice this small Chinese restaurant and we decided to check the menu. Surprisingly the food was not that expensive and since we were on a tight budget, we decided to eat there.

I've never tried a lot of Chinese restaurants since I'm accustomed with Japanese cuisine, all thanks to my Dad :). On my mind, this would be worth a gastronomical experience.

Our SIGNATURE Xiao Long Bao - Php 198
I haven't tried this at any restaurants but this was delicious that even my friend loved it. Because of this, I want to try this type of dish on other restaurants, "The Hunt for the Best Xiao Long Bao in Manila".

Steamed "Hakaw" Shrimp Dumplings - Php 198
This was quite typical. It was good but nothing special that will make you order this again.

Wok-fried Sliced Beef with Broccoli - Php 388
Yang Chow Fried Rice - Php 298
These were good and very filling but I'm willing to try some of their dishes.

Noodles with Spice and Sour Soup - Php 188
I'm not biased in any way but since I love hot and sour soup, this was my favorite.

Even though the food was great\, I did not like their service. We were dressed like just regular people shopping and not caring what we looked like. I was wearing a pink shirt, jeans and sneakers and my friend was wearing a white shirt, shorts and flats. We did not wear any makeup and we looked like we just woke up (in short "Sabog") because we were exhausted from walking around the mall. We came inside and asked the waiter for a table for two since it was a busy day, there was receptionist at their entrance or the person who assists you to your table. The waiter let us sit on this table full of used plates and utensils meaning customers just ate at this table. We sat and just waited for about I don't know, 20 minutes. I would understand that we waited that long but we can see that there were available tables. I'm not sure if we were unnoticeable due to the way we dress or they were all too busy to notice us. Then I asked another waiter that we were waiting for a table and to my surprise, they immediately assisted us.

I liked the food and I may consider going back to try other dishes but with this kind of service, I'm having second thoughts.

Did had this kind of experience like I do?

Stay Awesome,
ShinAeYo
